Dana Bassett
When we haven’t received the emotional and/or physical support we have needed throughout our lives we can get stuck in unhelpful patterns; We know something isn’t working but we don’t know how to do things differently, or we can’t maintain change. That’s not your fault, even though the default explanation people have for themselves is that it’s their own failure. As a clinical psychologist with almost 20 years’ experience, I support people through various stages of therapy which includes understanding our development and why we end up with unhelpful patterns, why it is so difficult to break out of these even though we know what we “should” be doing and how to apply this understanding, and various therapeutic strategies that address both the mind and the body in order to bring about a more positive state, and improve quality of life.
I draw upon evidence-based research methods that stem from CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy and Oriental Health Sciences.
I work with people across the life-span from ages 16 -70. I have a keen interest in helping people who struggle with anxiety, anxiety and depression, interpersonal difficulties, adjustment issues, stress management, assertiveness and boundary avoidance, and helping women navigate post- natal adjustment and peri-and post-menopause adjustment.
